Jialu,
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting together a list of apps with brief descriptions, cost, and platforms they could be used on. I looked into a few different apps myself and found two that might be worth exploring. One of them is called "iThoughts" it's $11.99 in price and has a review rating of 4.7 out of 5 with 166 reviews. Another that I looked into is called "XMind" it's a free application (I'm sure with available upgrades for purchase once inside) it has a review rating of 4.8 out of 5 with over 1,400 reviews. Of the two, "XMind" looks to be the most user friendly and offers various mapping brackets and outlines.

Hello Jialu,
ReplyDeleteThank you for listing these mind-mapping tools with descriptions that we can use for our work. Some of them seems user-friendly and free to use. I really would like to try "XMind" and "Coggle". There is another mind-mapping website called "Processon" which I have used very often for doing the course work of IDE621. There are plenty templates, some of them need to purchase. But the free one is also good enough on my needs.

Jialu,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the numerous applications available for mind mapping. To be honest with you, I did not even realize that there was such a thing as applications for mind mapping. I usually just use a piece of paper, which is very messy as I am writing everything that comes into my head. I will diffidently look at trying one of these applications in the near future.
Thanks for sharing another great resource.

Jialu,
ReplyDeleteMore interesting information about mindmapping- I, like Billy, didn't think there were actually dedicated applications to mindmapping. I have reviewed some of the apps and their parameters or specifications and now intrigued on how this could help my son. I usually just jot out words, ideas, and concepts on a piece of paper related to what I want to do as the main topic. After that, I take separate peices of paper and write one word down that I have chosen and best resonates with my topic of choice and go from there. Today I was speaking with my son because he has the Pre SAT (PSAT) college entrance exam- just a precursor for him to determine where he is at since he will be going to college in 5 years. We talked about expository writing and mindmapping his answers on scratch before answering any literature or writing question. He also reminded me about using mindmapping to deduce what is most logical and what is not so he could eliminate answers for multiple choice questions. What a coincidence that I chose your blog this morning to respond to lol. Great post and thanks for the information.

Jialu,
ReplyDeleteI never knew there were so many mind mapping apps. Like Billy and Nick when I mind map, I pull out a pencil and paper and start writing on it. It is amazing how many educational apps there are out there. I have never used a mind mapping app but I might in the future. I have used Khan Academy, Duolongo, and Grammarly to name of few. My son uses Khan Academy when he is having trouble solving a math problem. My family used Duolingo when we traveled around Europe. I use Grammarly to help my writing. There are some great apps to help in the educational process. Thanks for sharing some.

Jialu,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great resource on mind mapping. I didn't realize there were any apps to be honest but I probably shouldn't be surprised, seems like there is an app for everything these days. It is interesting that these apps all do different things, the one that looks interesting is MindMeister where a team can use mind mapping, that might be an interesting event. I think I might try one of these apps, I usually just use a pen and paper. Looking forward to reading more of your posts in the future, thanks.
