Reflection on the Experience of Blogging

Image
Time flies, the semester is coming to an end. At the beginning of the term, most of us feel that it is hard to create and maintain our own blogs. Luckily, my blogging system is Blogger.com and it’s pretty easy to get started. And then I gradually find its fun because it provides me an open platform to share my ideas with you. Blogs are great ways of gaining confidence, practicing writing, and participating in networks of other learners. Through running my blog, I have got a deeper insight on mind mapping and shared some great ideas with others. But I think I should have more personal thoughts about the topic based on my research. And from the statistics, I can tell the times of viewing is usually low and all visitors are from our class. Maybe I need to put more efforts to make my blog more influential and attractive. Also, others’ blogs show me a new world that I have never seen before. I was not familiar with VR, AI, Gamification, Google tools and other technologies. Now I ...

The combination of Mindmapping and WebQuest

Image
Mindmapping is a popular graphical thinking tool. It uses the radioactive thinking of the human brain to guide students to think actively. Every kind of data that enters the brain can become a center of thinking. The center will be radiated outward and become thousands of joint points. Each joint point represents a link to the central theme, and each link can become another central theme. Then tens of thousands of joint points are radiated outward again. The mindmapping uses images and text to express the relationship between the themes at each level, which can help to learn and remember. The purpose of WebQuest is to set up a bridge from accepting learning to autonomous learning. It is a teaching model that enables students to use the online learning environment to actively explore and construct the meaning of knowledge. Students “rediscovered” and “recombined” knowledge creatively in the process of knowledge inquiry. Setting a clear goal for a WebQuest requires students to revi...

The Application of Mindmapping (the Case of Podcast)

Image
Last week we discuss about podcasting in class. When I was in China, I used podcasts which were recommended by my friends for a while, such as Himalaya ( https://www.himalaya.com/cn ) and Lizhi FM( https://www.lizhi.fm/ ). They are beneficial tools for us to use in instructional design, development and evaluation. I used to listen to news about the economy and some stories before going to bed at night in Himalaya. It takes advantage of our fragmented time to learn. So based on this feature, we can create or find some learning materials for students to learn before class. In the second experience, I taught elementary school students New Concept English as tutor in China. I used audios of texts provided on the platform to replace traditional CDs and tapes. Therefore, we can make full use of the podcast to enrich the teaching methods and content while teaching. The third experience, when I was studying Korean at the university, the teacher asked me to read the text after class a...

For this reason, it’s easy and convenient to add ideas and information at any time later. l   Enhance Memory The use of r...

First Post -- The introduction of Mind Mapping

What is Mind Mapping? Mind mapping is a highly effective way of getting information in and out of your brain. Mind mapping is a creative and logical means of note-taking and note-making that literally "maps out" your ideas. All Mind Maps have some things in common. They have a natural organizational structure that radiates from the center and use lines, symbols, words, color and images according to simple, brain-friendly concepts. Mind mapping converts a long list of monotonous information into a colorful, memorable and highly organized diagram that works in line with your brain's natural way of doing things. The great thing about mind mapping is that you can put your ideas down in any order, as soon as they pop into your head. You are not constrained by thinking in order. Simply, throw out any and all ideas, then worry about reorganizing them later. The Five Essential Characteristics of Mind Mapping: ·        The main idea, subject or ...
